On November 3 and 4, the open-source cloud community will gather in Dresden. We’ll be there as a Gold Sponsor and, in addition to our keynote, will be presenting two more exciting sessions on stage.

Under the motto “With C – as in Community. Breaking down technical silos united for a digitally sovereign Europe,” the ALASCA Summit brings together people who design, operate, and further develop open cloud infrastructures. For us at UhuruTec, this is exactly the right place: Because digital sovereignty isn’t created by technology alone, but also through collaboration, shared knowledge, and a strong open-source community.

As a Gold Sponsor, we’re supporting the summit and look forward to sharing our perspectives and experiences. Our CEO, Matthias Haag, and his keynote “I Am I…”—along with the other keynotes—will kick off two full days in the vibrant open-source community.

But that’s not all: We’ll also be represented in the technical sessions.

A Cloud-Native Data Center in Practice

Matthias Haag, CEO of UhuruTec AG, and Martin Seebe of DATEV eG will demonstrate in their joint presentation, “A Cloud-Native Data Center,” how a data center can be consistently designed to be cloud-native.

The focus is on the integration of bare-metal orchestration, an IaaS platform, and applications. Drawing on experiences from the DATEV environment, the presentation explores how these layers can be combined using open-source technologies to form an integrated infrastructure.

With uMetal and uStack, UhuruTec contributes key building blocks based on Yaook and other open-source technologies. The presentation demonstrates how individual components can be combined to form a seamless cloud infrastructure.

Beyond the Horizon

Our Senior Software Engineer and UX expert Volker Arend offers a completely different approach to cloud management in his presentation “Beyond the Horizon.”The focus is on uView, our modular user interface for OpenStack environments. The goal is to make complex cloud infrastructures easier to understand and more intuitive to use, with transparent workflows, clear visual representations, and context-aware navigation.

What makes this presentation special is that Volker presents the topic in the style of a classic online game. Instead of a typical product presentation, the audience can expect an unconventional format that combines technical content with a familiar gaming aesthetic. This turns the exploration of user guidance and cloud complexity into an experience in itself.

Open source thrives on participation

For us, the ALASCA Summit is more than just an event. It represents an exchange between people and organizations working together on open, sovereign cloud infrastructures. As a sponsor, we want to contribute to exactly that: sharing experiences, discussing technical approaches, and developing new perspectives together.

We’re looking forward to two days filled with open source, cloud technology, and community in Dresden.

See you at the ALASCA Summit 2026!
