/// PRODUKT: uMetal
Your Own Hardware. Cloud-native Operated.
Automated provisioning and management of the entire lifecycle of physical servers in an in-house data center. uMetal combines bare-metal provisioning with Kubernetes-native automation based on open-source software. The result is a standardized, reproducible cloud infrastructure free from vendor lock-in, independent of hardware manufacturers, and scalable to any size.

Baremetal, cloud-native by design
Your Own Hardware. Fully Controlled.
uMetal automates the provisioning of physical servers in your own data center. Infrastructure, data, and hardware remain entirely under your control. This creates the conditions for digital sovereignty, compliance requirements, and the operation of business-critical applications independent of proprietary cloud providers.
Kubernetes-native. Vendor Lock-in free.
uMetal applies cloud-native principles to bare-metal provisioning. Physical servers are managed using Kubernetes, GitOps, and Cluster API via familiar tools and standardized interfaces. There is no need for proprietary provisioning software. Existing expertise can continue to be leveraged, and the infrastructure remains fully open source and free from vendor lock-in.
Added Value Through Standardization
Immutable Infrastructure transforms physical servers into reproducible infrastructure resources. Instead of permanently modifying individual systems, servers are consistently redeployed at any time. This minimizes configuration discrepancies, increases operational reliability, and simplifies the entire infrastructure lifecycle. Operations teams gain time for value-added tasks, while the risk of outages and operational overhead are sustainably reduced.

Technology in Detail
uMetal combines established open-source components into a Kubernetes-native platform for automated bare-metal provisioning. All infrastructure resources are described declaratively, versioned, and operated in a reproducible manner.
uMetal: Hardware as Flexible as Cloud Resources
Baremetal provisioning has been a proven concept for many years. uMetal brings this principle to the world of modern cloud platforms and is so a perfect base for uStack. Physical servers are provisioned declaratively in the company’s own data center, managed automatically, and fully integrated into cloud-native processes. Infrastructure is created in a reproducible and scalable manner, independent of vendor or hardware generation, using the same operational principles that have long been established in modern Kubernetes platforms.
uMetal manages the entire lifecycle of physical servers, from automated provisioning through firmware management and operating system installation to secure decommissioning, including disk cleanup. OpenStack Ironic abstracts different hardware platforms, while Kubernetes, GitOps, and Cluster API create a standardized and fully open-source-based operating platform. This reduces configuration discrepancies, increases compliance and operational reliability, and frees up resources for further platform development.
