uMon Observability

During the presentation, Marc Schöchlin—Technical Lead for uMon Observability at UhuruTec—outlined the project’s current status and officially launched the release of uMon.

Reliably operating cloud platforms involves far more than just monitoring systems. Modern infrastructures require a powerful observability platform capable of centrally aggregating, analyzing, and processing metrics, logs, and traces in a scalable, long-term manner. This is precisely where uMon comes in.

In his tech talk, Marc demonstrated how uMon was developed as a fully open-source platform to provide transparent, scalable, and efficient observability for cloud and Kubernetes environments. Beyond fundamental observability principles, the presentation focused specifically on the technical architecture and the components employed.

uMon integrates established open-source technologies—such as Prometheus, Grafana Mimir, Zabbix, OpenSearch, and Kafka—into a unified platform for metrics, logs, and traces. The goal is to provide platform operators with a standardized solution that can be collaboratively developed and maintained within a community.

For us, the presentation at the ALASCA Tech Talk marked a significant milestone. The event regularly fosters dialogue on open-source projects and digital sovereignty, making it the ideal setting to officially unveil uMon and celebrate its release with the community.

A heartfelt thank you to ALASCA for the invitation and the opportunity to present our project. We look forward to community feedback and to the continued collaborative development of uMon.
